History of DeSoto Central Middle

In August of 2001, the new title of DeSoto Central Middle School was adopted, as it had officially become the home for grades six through eighth. However, because of the growing population in Desoto County in the school year of 2003-2004 , the school also made accommodations for the ninth grade. The third and final phase of the three-part school campus saw Desoto Central High School open in August 2003. Yet, even with the new school, an extreme increase in student population in all grades kindergarten through tenth had Desoto County School officials shift grades to accommodate students in all three school located on this campus.

In August 2003, Desoto Middle School campus became home to grades fifth through seventh with grade eight housed next door on the Desoto Central High School campus. Finally in August 2004, the school opened its doors to grades six through eight.
